Glen Helen Nature Preserve

Yellow Springs, Ohio 45387

Phone: 767-7375

Description of Organization:

Glen Helen is 1,000 acres of quiet peacefulness located across from Antioch College at Corry Street. It is a preserve and
environmental education facility and is managed by the Glen Helen Ecology Institute, a special program of Antioch College. The woods, open fields, streams, and wetlands that comprise the nature preserve were given to Antioch between 1929 and 1938 by alumnus Hugh Taylor Birch as a living memorial to his daughter, Helen Birch Bartlett. The land was set aside according to Birch’s wishes "as a reserve for birds, fish, and game, wildflowers, trees, shrubs, and other forms of life... and for the direct benefit of Antioch College."
